The author writes openly about her struggle with several losses, with a focus on the pain and grief of losing her husband to suicide. I commend Dr. Milles' courage in writing this memoir. However, because this is a memoir, I was initially confused that she assumed "Delaney" as her name. The book is NOT well edited; there are many examples of poorly constructed sentences, misspellings, and/or incorrect use of words (e.g.:"gentile priest" meaning gentle priest, '"shuttered" instead of shuddered, "seeped" instead of steeped etc.). I sincerely hope more thorough editing is accomplished prior to the publishing of Book Two of C.L. Milles's memoir.Product details

"Waiting For My Rainbow" is an incredible memoir of Delaney's day to day journey of her life with a loved one suffering from a mental disease. You will laugh sometimes and cry many, as you live her life through her words. For anyone who has or had family or friends suffering from a mental illness, this is a must read. It touched me and moved me deeply, as I related to some of her feelings. I highly recommend this book. You will gain much understanding into this true nightmare Delaney lived and her ongoing recovery.
Despite the abysmal editing, this memoir has so many redeeming qualities. C.Milles shares an intimate insight into her marriage and love for her bipolar husband. It revealed not just the difficulties, but also the joy experienced in their life together. All the tears I held back while reading were flowing in the chapter of her Dad’s death. Her description of his passing is poignant and beautifully sensitive. The constant love and concern for her family is one of her most important messages. C. Milles never-wavering determination to succeed and complete her education is remarkable in the face of such adversity.

The author writes about her experience very honestly. Her husband did mention that he was going to leave her but in no way that she could have anticipated. She is not to blame. A person who is determined to commit suicide will find a way. She did everything possible to help him.
